I’m tired of dictionaries okay?
Cephalus multitūdinem aegrōtōrum clāmantiun invēnit
What did this soothsayer do to a bunch of shouting patients
I wanna say entered but that’s obviously not right I cannot read

Presently the biggest Nazi problem is that I’m German and Germans suck at Romance languages

shoe-inu asked: My name is Shoshanah. Yes, I know it's a Jewish name, but I am genuinely curious about the Nazi movement. It intrigues me how something that seems so wrong could have so many followers, and the more I look into it, the more I find out the people involved are usually very friendly, brilliant people, including Hitler. Actually, Hitler was a very inspirational and amazing man who saved Germany, though his methods I don't quite agree with. As you see, I am very conflicted. What is this really about?

It’s a Jewish name? I didn’t know that. I think it’s a pretty name.

Nazism you mean? It’s fairly complicated and I’ll try to explain what it was about. I am a Nazi myself, but it doesn’t mean I’m a Nazi history expert. There are different kind of Nazis, just like (I assume you’re Jewish then) there are Observant Jews, Conservative Jews, Reform Jews, and Secular Jews. And Observant Jews want to fight Secular Jews all the time, and Secular Jews equally want a religious civil war because they have to leave Israel to get married.

I believe the core of Nazism is nationalism, and that was the mean reason why people followed it. I don’t believe in Jewish Plot, nor do I believe in Goldhagen Thesis. Many things we know today, the majority of German people of the time, military servicemen, and even NSDAP members did not know. I don’t believe Holocaust went on with much of the population’s knowledge.

70 to 80 years ago things were very different. A lot, a lot of things that today we consider obviously so wrong, seemed so right and occurred so naturally in the past, all throughout history. Today we find discrimination against women, and LGBTQ people, very unreasonable; not too long ago even slavery went on. Antisemitism was nothing new in Europe, and nationalism had been what fueled the European people to progress for centuries; the treatment of women and homosexual people had been harsh in many countries for long periods of time, and Brown v. Board of Education was not to pass the Supreme Court until the 50s to finally declare segregation of African Americans and European Americans unconstitutional.

What I’m trying to say is, you need to see how history flows. We cannot judge historical people by today’s standard, because though they were people just like we are, they grew up in a different society with different values that in many areas of life they thought differently from the way we think. We cannot blame many of them for following Nazism, while many ideas such as racism, sexism.. that we do not agree with today, seemed to them were of the norm since long ago.

What appealed to them was the promise of again making Germany a strong nation, and the love for their people and land—what we call nationalism. By today’s standard it’s probably called patriotism, since a lot of people believe nationalism means you think your nation is the most superior and all others inferior. But I believe that patriotism mostly stands for pride for one’s country, while nationalism is heart-felt love for ones nation: the nation is the people, a people with common language, culture, and share a common ancestry.

When Nazism in Germany and Fascism in Italy came to power, both countries were very much in chaos. The entire European world along with America were chaotic due to the Great Depression. Authoritarianism at large was a very effective way of repairing the economy; and while the Brits were very sympathizing to us and agreed to lower the WWII reparation fees, the French demanded their francs all the same. With hyperinflation and the gigantic amount of reparation payments that were simply impossible to come up with, Germany virtually had no choice but to go to war again.

Personally I don’t find Hitler too brilliant. He was an okay leader, but fucked up too bad by treating the French too nice and wanting to turn the Brits into an ally. And I don’t understand why he invaded Russia. I don’t. I still don’t. Also I don’t agree with the Nazi racial ideology in the way that I’m indifferent to the Jewish population, favor the Eastern Slavs (and Italians, if it matters), and strongly despise the French.

The concept of living-space and the practice of eugenics were probably unique to Nazism—I’m not sure so don’t quote me on that, besides those Nazism is basically a form of Fascism: one-party government, strong governmental control for both economical and social factors of the state, mobilizing a large percentage of the population. Why fascism? I don’t know. It was just what Germany happened to turn to as a solution to the desperate economy. America opted for capitalism, Scandinavia chose socialism, Soviet Russia believed in communism. Italy and Germany tried fascism. It really was just the whole European world trying to work something out.

Personally I sure am a fascist, and I am a nationalist as well; I see nationalism as more than just a political stand, in the way that anybody with any sort of political view can be a nationalist as well. In that sense I’m a Nazi.. but I do consider many Nazi practices to be overkill. Deportation at most would be enough to the “Jewish problem”. I don’t deem Holocaust as absolutely necessary. I have faith in the German nation but I don’t see any other nation as inferior. I’m not trying to come off as a “good Nazi”; I only mean that even Nazis are different. Some are, or were, narcissists for their nation and can’t wait to kill everybody else at the expense of having their fellow Germans die in vain on the battlefields; and I can’t explain their views because I don’t fucking understand either.

Just like today’s white racists, some have more of a healthy sense of identity and racial consciousness and “white pride” (they may be called “racialists” to differentiate from “racists”) , while some hate others and believe in “white power” and.. I think they are unreasonable idiots having nothing better to do with life.

So you are wondering “why the entire German nation hated Jews to death” and all I can say is that it was simply not true. The idea of all races are equal in intelligence hadn’t come to existence in science by the time, and most people did not see misogyny or homophobia as wrong. What people saw and focused on was a way to save Germany, so that they followed Hitler. It’s like, why did Americans follow a capitalist government while it was legal to even own another human being under this government? Well it was because people hadn’t have the idea that African Americans should be treated the same even though they have a different color to their skin, and they thought capitalism worked so they supported the government, not because the government allowed slavery. And not even all slave-owners were super mean to their slaves. Germans didn’t support the Nazi regime only because it promoted hatred towards Jews, nor did all Germans or even all NSDAP members hated Jews so much.

Had Hitler happen to be a believer for Communism, with his speech skills and charisma, we would have probably invaded Italy with Russia, as the Soviet Reich.

It kind of just happened, I mean Nazism.
